You Will Be So Inspired By This Outsider!
What an inspirational story to kick off International Women's Day!
There are so many women doing extraordinary things to impact the world and I celebrate them all! But today, I have to pay tribute to a phenomenal trailblazer, who I am proud to call my friend, the phenomenal Brandice Daniel!
A few years ago, my work inbox was flooded with emails requesting sponsorship for Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR) week after week, month after month. At the time I was working in Financial Services and could not understand how supporting a fashion show would align to my company's business objectives. I tossed each email into my junk folder thinking this would never be a good fit. But the emails kept coming and eventually my curiosity got the best of me. I decided to open the email and do some research on Harlem's Fashion Row. When I learned of the company's mission to provide more opportunity for designers of color in the fashion industry, I knew I had to do my due diligence. I agreed to meet with HFR Founder, Brandice Daniel, and it was a day that I'll never forget. Brandice was so full of passion and energy about her work. She talked about her struggle, but it didn't bring her down, I could tell she was so grateful for even the small blessings that came her way. I was hooked! At that meeting, we brainstormed and I instinctively knew I could support HFR and still bring value to my company. In fact, I knew it would be a strategic and competitive differentiator for the financial services industry. You see my company would benefit by supporting Diversity and Inclusion in the fashion industry; generate brand recognition and increased favorability with the customers who attended the HFR fashion events, which eventually led to sales. By all accounts the partnership was BRILLIANT! Fast forward, years later Brandice' is KILLIN IT! She took the fashion industry by storm and I, like so many others who support her are beaming with pride! But, don't take my word for it, see for yourself.
