10 Things I am Grateful for this Thanksgiving!
First let me start off by wishing you a joyous Thanksgiving! I’ve always loved this holiday because it brings family and friends together to rejoice in kinship and love, which we sometimes take for granted as we move through our busy and sometimes hectic lives.
This year I am struggling to embrace a cheerful holiday spirit. Since the passing of mother in 2013, I have dreaded the thought of Thanksgiving. It was always more than a day to give thanks, it was the day my family celebrated my mother’s birthday each year. If you have lost a parent, you know it leaves a heartache that no one can heal, but it also leaves you with cherished memories that live in your heart and mind for eternity.
I owe it to my children to make the best of holiday, so I have decided to declare to God ten things I am thankful for to help me get over my blues. I’d like to share them with you in hopes that my list inspires and encourages you to do the same.
God, I am thankful for:
My husband, who in 29 years, has never missed a day to say, “I love you”, and consistently demonstrates his love and devotion to me and our marriage.
My children, who fill my heart with an overwhelming sense of love and joy.
My Shugz, being a grandmother is the greatest thing ever!
My health, even though I can do a much better job at making healthier lifestyle choices and committing to a steady workout routine. I promise to work on it.
My extended family and friends who share their knowledge and wisdom unconditionally with love and grace.
My faith, that has enabled me to walk fearlessly through doors of the unknown, to have the courage to believe in your word and not give into doubt, and the wisdom not to listen to naysayers who have no authority over your plan for my life.
Your traveling mercy, which has allowed me to visit so many places and return home safe and sound to my home and family.
The fact that I have a career that enables me to serve and make a mark on the world!
My publisher, Scott Petinga who believed in me and my ability to change lives by sharing my story.
Your future blessings to be bestowed in my life, the doors you will open, and my increase.
- In the mighty name of Jesus! Amen"
May god bless you and your family. I pray that you experience much joy and many blessings this holiday weekend!
Peace and love,
